Post Op Instructions Root Canal Day 7

We wanted to reach out today to say hello, and to make sure you’re happy with the results of your recent root canal treatment. At this point in time, you should be free of discomfort and should not have any noticeable abscesses or sores around the tooth where treatment was performed. However, if the pain is persistent even today, or if you have other discomforts, please contact us.

Barring any continuation of pain, which could possibly indicate a fracture or crack in the root of the tooth, you will want to care for any teeth that received treatment as you would the rest of your teeth.

Here are our top tips for avoiding a future visit to our office for another root canal treatment:

Maintain your regularly scheduled visit. X-rays and regular cleanings are a wonderful defence against aggressive cavities that can lead to the need for root canal treatment, so don’t forget to keep up with your professional oral hygiene schedule.

Avoid sugary and caustic drinks. Energy drinks, sodas, and even fruit juices with a lot of acid content are proven to cause tooth decay. Limit these beverages, and your teeth will thank you for it.

Watch out for a tooth that changes color. Consider a tooth that changes its shade to be one undergoing an eclipse of sorts – it’s not a good thing, and should be checked right away. If you notice your tooth or several teeth are changing color, make an appointment to see what’s happening. Since the constant, ongoing pain that affects a tooth’s root doesn’t often present itself until after a cavity is deep enough to affect the pulp, you may not even know you have such a cavity until it’s too late. Watch the shade!

Stay hydrated. We hear this advice everywhere. To lose weight, to maintain fresh breath, to recover from a workout. Drinking water is so good for us, it’s no surprise it’s good for your teeth as well. Drinking water keeps your mouth at a pH that discourages bacteria from colonizing in your mouth and keeps tissues responsive to outside threats. So, drink up!

As always, if you need anything at all, please reach out – we’re always here for you at Todays Dental @ Cayce. Thank you for the continued trust and the opportunity to deliver your dental care.
