Post Op Instructions Bridges Day 7

We wanted to reach out today to say hello, and to make sure you’re happy with the dental bridge we placed during your recent appointment. At this point in time, you should be free of discomfort and feel as though your bridge looks and feels natural in your mouth. If not, please call our office to see if we can help.

Also, since well-maintained bridgework can last nearly a decade, we wanted to share with you a few tips that will help keep that bridge looking and feeling new for years to come:

Floss well, and floss often. By far, the most important thing you can do to avoid the decay of those teeth neighboring your bridge is to floss regularly and to floss well. You can accomplish this by using a special type of floss designed for bridges called “super floss.” We’ll be happy to show you how to use it – just ask us during your next appointment. You’ll love how simple this product makes flossing under your bridge.

Be sure your bridge always fits tightly. A loose bridge promotes decay and can damage the abutment teeth that support it. If you feel your bridge is no longer as fastened as it used to be, please reach out to us to schedule an appointment. Letting a “minor” issue like this go for too long can harm your still healthy abutment teeth, and no one wants that to happen.

Careful with hard food items! Chewing on hard candy and munching on ice can wreak havoc on bridgework and your natural teeth. If you’d like to keep both lasting for as long as they should, refrain from cracking away at such habit-forming activities.

As always, if you need anything at all, please reach out – we’re always here for you at Todays Dental @ Cayce. Thank you for the continued trust and the opportunity to deliver your dental care.
